My Dad, Beatty Thomas Brown, 92, of Henrico, NC at Lake Gaston, formerly from Norfolk, VA, died September 3, 2016.

Mr. Brown was born and raised in Pamplin, VA, in Appomattox County. As a young boy he went to work in CC camps, planting trees and doing other agricultural works to help his widowed Mother, Mary Elizabeth Davis Brown, his Father, James Thomas Brown was a farmer and died when he was only 5 years old. Beatty then enlisted into the Army and fought in WW II, he was rifleman in the infantry on the islands in the Pacific until the war ended; He was very proud to have served his country and would bring tears to his eyes every time when he sat with friends and family and told stories of the war. After the war, he got a job on the Norfolk and Southern railroad, where he worked for 18 years, and then he moved to Norfolk, VA and worked for 26 years at the Naval Air Station. He was a wonderful father and husband and “My Buddy” a kind and gentle man.

He is survived by me Rebecca (Becky) Brown Beasley and my husband, John (Rob) Beasley of Lake Gaston. He will be buried along with my Mother, Betty Rodgers Brown in Pamplin, VA.
